Complainant Rakesh Bharti, a filmmaker files a case against the actress of the film Deepika Padukone, the director Meghna Gulzar and the team of Chhapaak.
He claims that the story of Chhapaak is based on the script written by him. Wherein in his complaint, he mentions that he was planning to produce a film based on the story of an acid attack survivor.
Rakesh claims that he and his son registered the film under the Title ‘Black Day’ in May 2015.
The duo stated that they had approached actresses like Aishwariya Rai Bachchan, Kangana Ranaut and also production houses like Fox Star Studios for the film.
Rakesh Bharti says that he allegedly shared a copy of the script with Fox Star Studio, Deepika’s Ka Production and Mriga Films as these production houses had shown interest in making the film.
However, he later came to know that they were making a separate film on the same subject. He then learned and affirmed that these producers made a few superficial changes in his script and presented a film with a change in the title as ‘Chhapaak’.
As Rakesh Bharti files a copyright violation complaint against the team of ‘Chhapaak’ now seeks to gain credit for the script of the film.
Deepika Padukone is undergoing the post-production phase and promoting her film which will soon hit the theatres on January 10th. Vikrant Massey performs a pivotal role in ‘Chhapaak’ and also real acid attack survivors will be seen acting in the film.
The film is co-produced by Fox Star Studio, Mriga Productions, and Ka Production. The film will present the real-life story of a strong acid attack survivor Laxmi Aggarwal.
‘Chhapaak’ has received loads of appreciation for its trailer. The film at its peak is now, unfortunately, facing this legal dilemma!
